After unzipping the ccar96.zip file, the resulting postscript files contain the slides that were presented at the workshop for "Ionospheric Delay Correction for Single- frequency Radar Altimetry" at the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research of the University of Colorado. The workshop was held in Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A, 24-25 September 1996. The presentation comprised of a total of 70 slides. Not all the slides were presented during the talk due to time constraints but all the slides below have been forwarded to the workshop organizers as they requested to have them published in the upcoming workshop proceedings. Some of the postscript files are big as you can see in the second column below (in bytes). For instance, it takes some 15 minutes to print each UNB TEC map (map*.ps), so if you wish to save some time, please feel free to take a look at the mpeg movies we created using the same maps. They can be reached in the directory at . If you wish to print out the whole material then the correct order of the presentation slides is as follows: abstract.ps 58345 The abstract of the presentation (2 pages) slides.ps 3024833 The slides of the presentation, mainly text (15 slides) igs93.ps 564374 IGS stations used for processing between 13-15 March 1993 (1) igs95.ps 565538 IGS stations used for processing between 6-8 April 1995 (1) allpass.ps 152568 Statistics with respect to TOPEX data for all passes (2) geomag.ps 1566684 Geomagnetic field variation for April 1995 (1) map7202.ps 230552 UNB's global TEC map for day 72 in 1993, UT 02:00 (1) map7208.ps 229298 UNB's global TEC map for day 72 in 1993, UT 08:00 (1) map7221.ps 230253 UNB's global TEC map for day 72 in 1993, UT 21:00 (1) map7303.ps 225927 UNB's global TEC map for day 73 in 1993, UT 03:00 (1) map7308.ps 227721 UNB's global TEC map for day 73 in 1993, UT 08:00 (1) map7315.ps 227061 UNB's global TEC map for day 73 in 1993, UT 15:00 (1) map7408.ps 227439 UNB's global TEC map for day 74 in 1993, UT 08:00 (1) map7413.ps 227781 UNB's global TEC map for day 74 in 1993, UT 13:00 (1) map9600.ps 205947 UNB's global TEC map for day 96 in 1995, UT 00:00 (1) map9617.ps 205783 UNB's global TEC map for day 96 in 1995, UT 17:00 (1) map9700.ps 212624 UNB's global TEC map for day 97 in 1995, UT 00:00 (1) map9717.ps 219940 UNB's global TEC map for day 97 in 1995, UT 17:00 (1) map9801.ps 213925 UNB's global TEC map for day 98 in 1995, UT 01:00 (1) map9810.ps 219566 UNB's global TEC map for day 98 in 1995, UT 10:00 (1) faraday.ps 142840 Comparison of UNB's TEC maps with Faraday rotation data (3) top1a.ps 20024 Comparison of several TEC techniques with TOPEX data (1) top1b.ps 16722 Differences of several TEC techniques with TOPEX data (1) top1c.ps 419233 TOPEX trajectory for a particular pass (1) top2a.ps 22522 '' top2b.ps 18494 '' top2c.ps 419425 '' top3a.ps 21413 '' top3b.ps 17719 '' top3c.ps 419331 '' top4a.ps 22101 '' top4b.ps 18038 '' top4c.ps 419379 '' top5a.ps 22198 '' top5b.ps 18369 '' top5c.ps 419401 '' top6a.ps 18582 '' top6b.ps 16349 '' top6c.ps 423470 '' top7a.ps 17571 '' top7b.ps 14841 '' top7c.ps 423326 '' top8a.ps 19588 '' top8b.ps 16354 '' top8c.ps 423472 '' top9a.ps 21231 '' top9b.ps 17581 '' top9c.ps 393218 '' top10a.ps 21557 '' top10b.ps 17812 '' top10c.ps 393243 '' top11a.ps 17552 '' top11b.ps 14825 '' top11c.ps 392967 '' The top*.ps files show the comparison between the original IRI-95, the updated IRI- 95, the UNB global TEC maps, JPL-derived Global Ionosphere Maps (GIM) and the plasmaspheric electron content based on D. Gallagher model. The backbone of the comparison is the TOPEX-derived TEC data that was provided for the workshop participants. There are 26 TOPEX passes for each of the 6 days investigated. For each TOPEX pass, we computed the original IRI-95 predictions, the updated IRI-95 TEC using the UNB global TEC maps. We also plotted the JPL-derived TEC values for each of the individual TOPEX epochs. The notation UNB TEC (before) and UNB TEC (after) stand for the UNB TEC values before and after the nearest hour since the UNB algorithm provides TEC data on an hourly basis. For each TOPEX pass (top*.ps), we produced three plots: the first ones (top*a.ps) show the latitude vs. TEC, the second ones show the differences with respect to the TOPEX-derived TEC. The mean and the standard deviation of the differences are also displayed on the second plots (top*b.ps). The third plots (top*c.ps) show the TOPEX pass plotted on a world map. The circles represent the TOPEX epochs. The stars represent the IGS stations used for data processing for that particular day. We produced 26 passes times 3 plots/pass times 6 days = 468 plots. For the presentation, we chose to display 11 representative plots of the 6 day period under investigation. Also, we are working on the paper version of these results. Please stay tuned.
